The NAIA announced the upcoming football game of No. 12 Southern Oregon (7-2) vs. No. 7 Montana Tech (8-1) in Ashland, Oregon is the NAIA Football Game of the Week.
The last time the teams met earlier this season, Montana Tech was able to keep scoring while slowing Southern Oregon’s offense for a 48-45 in double overtime victory.
Montana Tech leads the all-time series 3-1 with the Orediggers winning the last three meetings.
The game has a number of NAIA Championship Series implications.
Montana Tech is nearly guaranteed the Frontier Conference Championship and automatic berth into the NAIA Championship Series. The Orediggers would need to lose to the Raiders by at least 130 points to hurdle all tiebreakers.
A win by the Orediggers would likely guarantee a home first round playoff game. If they lose to Southern Oregon, Tech could be on the road for the first playoff game.
A loss by Southern Oregon could potentially knock them out of the playoff picture while a win could move them further up in the polls and nearly guarantee them entrance into the Championship Series.
