Tech season ends in tiebreaker

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Montana Tech’s season came to an end in dramatic fashion Wednesday evening.

The Orediggers fell 25-22 in a one-game playoff to Midland (Nebraska) in Pool G of the NAIA Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Tyson Events Center.

Midland will now take on Marian (Indiana) in a one-game playoff for the right to be one of the eight teams in the single-elimination bracket. The Orediggers close the season at 23-10.

The tiebreakers were set up because the Orediggers beat Marian and fell to Midland on Tuesaday. Marian then beat Midland earlier Wednesday, leaving all three teams at 1-1.

The Orediggers their fourth trip to the national site under head coach Brian Solomon. Tech also advanced in 2016, 207 and 2019.

Montana Tech’s trip to nationals closes the careers of seniors Emma Carvo, Karina Mickelson, Sydney Parks and Hudsyn Dibrito.
