Montana Tech has a new athletic director.
Don Blackketter, the school’s chancellor, told The Montana Standard that the school hired David Lau.
Lau has served as the assistant director of athletics for development at NCAA Division II Missouri Western State University (MWSU) since 2003. Prior to moving into administration, he served as an assistant baseball coach and administrator at MWSU. He holds a B.S. in education from Missouri Western State University and an M.S. in education from Northwest Missouri State University.
Lau was one of three out-of-state candidates to come to town for an interview. Rick Goeb and Jason Herbers were the others.
The new AD is expected to begin his duties on June 1. Lau will replace Charles Bradley, who was hired in last May and fired in January. Bradley is being paid the remainder of his $85,000 salary plus a $40,000 settlement for the promise not to sue.
In all, 109 people applied for the position.
