Tech golfers finish fifth at Frontier tournament

PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Montana Tech men’s and women’s golf teams concluded the spring season Wednesday at the Frontier Conference Championship at the Ahwatukee Country Club. Both Digger squads finished fifth while Lewis-Clark State swept the team awards.

The men shot a team total of 325 on day two of the championship. Carson Brown led the way for the Copper and Green hitting an 81 for the round good for tied for 14th. Redshirt freshman David Starcevich and junior Sean Ryan tied for 17th following identical scores of 82 for the round.

Daniel Thompsett of Rocky Mountain College took the individual crown after finishing even for the championship.

The Tech women, who had three finish in the top-20, combined to score 386 on the day. Taryn Campbell jumped to 13th place following an 88 performance. Danielle McCully slipped to 15th on the second day while Kiley McConnell rounded out the top 20.

Rocky’s Kyla Clancy earned the individual title after beating out LCSC’s Karina Davila by two strokes.
