Tech comeback falls short

Argos edge Orediggers in five

GREAT FALLS — Montana Tech’s volleyball team nearly overcame a 2-0 deficit Saturday at the McLaughlin Center.

The University of Providence, though, turned away the Orediggers for a 3-2 Frontier Conference victory. The Argos escaped the comeback with a 15-13 win in the tiebreaker.

The Argos took the first two sets 25-22 and 25-23 before the Orediggers battled back with wins of 25-19 and 25-22. (Stats)

Sadie Lott’s 21 kills led the Argos, who outkilled Tech 64-59. Adysen Burns added 16 kills, while Cydney Finberg-Roberts dushed up 57 assists. Sacha Legros led the team with 32 digs. Lott added 25.

Karina Mickelson spiked a match-high 22 kills to lead the Orediggers, who fell to 2-4 on the season. Maureen Jessop added 11 kills and 16 digs.

Hannah Oggerino collected 29 digs for the Orediggers. McKenna Kaelber recorded 41 assists.

Montana Tech will be back at home next Friday and Saturday to take on Montana Western at the HPER Complex.
