Team work makes the dream work as Dogs sweep season series with Missoula Sentinel

Butte welcomed Sentinel to town tonight in a Western AA clash. Butte has played a fluster of games since last week and continued that trend Tuesday Night.

Missoula started the game off 4-0 early on but both teams struggled to get things going. Missoula led by one after a low scoring quarter 11-8.

Bo Demarais started his big night and picked things up to start the second with a quick 2 and the Dogs would trail by 1. Torre Temple splashed home a 3 ball to ignite the Bulldog offense, while Tocher “Mr. Big Shot”Lee  picked up where he has left off the last few games, scorching Sentinel for 9 first half points, and a 19-9 run to end the first half.

Butte would lead 27-20 heading to the locker room. Ruesso Battermann came out and put in a alley opp lay in on a inbound pass. After a steal, Dylan “Bobby” Bache canned a triple for Butte to push their lead to 12. Missoula would cash in to begin their second half scoring and Butte led 32-22 with 5:51 to play in the 3rd.

Sentinel would cash in on their next possession on a scoop and score to cut the lead to 8. Sentinel continued to scream back after hitting back to back buckets and then cashing in a 3 ball from the corner to cut the lead to just 2.

After a couple misses and offensive boards, Tocher Lee found a cutting Bo Demarais and he’d hit a bucket for 2,34-30 Butte leading to a timeout.

Sentinel drew a great play up out of the timeout and netted another bucket in the paint. Demarais kept working down low as he scored his 7th point with 1:30 to play. With a 1:13 to go Sentinel hit a nice jumper and Butte would lead 36-34.

Demarais touched the ball again on the Bulldogs next possession and was fouled as he connected with 1 of 2 at the line.

The Dogs took a 3 point lead to the final frame behind a great quarter from Demarais, 37-34 Butte, as Missoula won quarter 3 14-10.

More of the same to start the final frame, Bulldog Bo Demarais had confidence through the roof and it only grew as the game went on, he kept attacking as Sentinel simply couldn’t contain  the big man fouling him on his way up and cashing his free throw for the and 1 and  his 11th point of the night.

Missoula wouldn’t let Butte escape though as they continued to fight back hitting a 2 ball and off a turnover nailing a triple to cut the lead to 1.

After a Tocher Lee miss Battermann grabbed the board, went up and was fouled completing the 3 point play to push the Bulldog lead to 4 with 5 minutes to play.

Demarais hit two more big free throws to push the lead to 6 but Sentinels Grady Walker who also had a big night with 24 points I lead all scorers completed a three point play of his own at the other end. Tocher Lee got going again in the 4thafter a triple to push the lead back to 6 with 3:35 to play.

Off a missed three and put back Missoula would cut the lead to 2 again, but it was answered right back by Tocher Lee again who hit his 4th deep ball of the night and the Dogs would go back up 5.

After a Missoula deuce Bobby Bache hit a triple to make it back to back deep balls  for Butte, 54-46 Bulldogs. Lincoln Rodgers stopped the bleeding for the Spartans drilling a triple, leading to a Bulldog timeout with 1:21 to go, 56-49 Butte.

Missoula hit a 3 with 41 seconds to play to cut it to 58-52, timeout Missoula. Missoula would foul Lee, walking down the to the other end of the court he was confident, calm and composed as he stepped to the line took a couple of deep breaths and he’d hit both at the stripe.

Butte made sure to make their free throws count as everyone made them them to seal the deal for Butte and they’d go on to win 62-54 behind a great team effort and holding off Missoulas comeback. Hudson Luedtke had a quiet night, but Butte saw three players score in double figures in that scoring absence in a back and forth contest, and move to 4-3,6-5.

Tocher Lee led the way with 17 points and 4 made 3 balls, Bo Demarais tossed in a season high 13, Dylan Bache had one point over his average with 11, Ruesso Battermann had 9, Torre Temple, and Hudson Luedtke had 5 apiece and Braylon Larson had 2.

Missoula saw 4 score in double figures, Grady Walker led all scorers with 24 points, Cade Robinson and Jackson Krueger each had 12, and Lincoln Rodgers had 10, Sentinel falls to 2-6, 6-6.

The Bulldogs will travel to Hellgate this Friday for another Western AA showdown.
