The Anaconda A’s swept the Butte Muckers in an American Legion Baseball doubleheader Saturday at Copper Mountain Park.

The conference games were the season openers for both teams. The Muckers will be back at home Sunday for a 3 p.m. game against the Livingston Braves. The nine-inning game will count in conference standings.

Game 1
Anaconda A’s 8, Butte Muckers 1
Sean Gallagher struck out nine batters and scattered four hits in seven innings to lead the A’s to the victory in the opener.

Mitchel Hessler and Luke Jensen doubled to lead the Anaconda offense.

Scout Allen doubled for the Muckers, who got singles from Austin Gerry, Bryson Henningsen and Liam Sommer.

Gallagher hit a pair of doubles, and Hessler added one to lead Anaconda’s 11-hit attack in the nightcap. Hassler went 3- for 3, while Gallagher went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Luke Jenson wen 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Carson Meyer struck out 10 batters in the five-hit victory.

Allen doubled for the Muckers. Gerry, Henningsen, Tucker Winston and Kash Kelly singled.
