Stovin, Cobras rally past Bighorns for 3-2 win

A third period goal by Ty Stovin lifted the Butte Cobras to a 3-2 win over the Helena Bighorns Friday night at the Butte Community Ice Center. (Stats)

Stovin’s goal capped a 3-0 rally by the Cobras, who picked up their second win of the season. Both victories came over Helena.

The Bighorns got a goal from Darren Donovan in the first period and one by Porter Tirrill early in the second.

Butte cut the lead to 2-1 when Kyler Garsjo scored a goal assisted by Stovin and Robin Bagley. The Cobras tied it late in the second when Alexander Chronowski scored. That goal was assisted by Stovin and Andrew Kober.

Tovin’s game-winning goal came 4 minutes, 18 seconds into the third. Bagley and Garsjo got the assist.

Rylan Labrie turned away 44 shots in the pipes in the win.

The Cobras are back at home Saturday to take on the Missoula Junior Bruins. The puck drops at 7:30 at the Butte Community Ice Center.
