BOZEMAN — Butte Central sophomore Clay Stillwagon won the 98-pound weight division at the Tom LeProwse Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.
Stillwagon won two matches Saturday after reaching the semifinals on Friday.
“Five of seven kids won matches,” BC coach Robin Moodry said. “I’m pretty happy with that. Clay won at 98 and he definitely had a good tournament. We still have room for improvement, but we are improving. I’m pretty happy where we’re at.”
Butte High’s Bryce Armstrong placed second in the 152 weight class. Bulldog Tommy Challeen placed third at 145, while Kelly Merrick took sixth at 105.
Butte High heads to the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic in Missoula. The Maroons head to Miles City next weekend.
“That should be a good opportunity to see where we’re at,” Moodry said. “This was a good tournament with some good competition. We’ve got a long way to go, but it’s good to see some improvement.”
