DICKINSON, N.D. — Josh Tucker and Mason Hoover held the Mining City offense in check Monday night, and the Badlands Big Sticks beat the Tommyknockers 5-1 in an Expedition League game at Dakota Community Bank and Trust Field. (Boxscore)
Tucker started and scattered five hits over five innings. He gave up one unearned run. Hoover pitched four no-hit innings for the save.
Derek Gellos drove in four runs to lead the Badlands offense. He went 1 for 3 with a double. Alex Thurston doubled, and Carson Lundmark hit two singles.
Nick Hansen doubled to lead the Knockers. Seth Lucero, James Martin, Jake Mastillo and Justin Greene singled.
The Tommyknockers (12-10) fell into third place with the loss. They are two games behind the first-place Souris Valley Sabre Dogs in the second half of the Lewis Division. They trail the Big Sticks by one game. (Standings)
Butte’s club has a chance to make up ground on the Sticks. Monday’s game was the first of four in Dickinson. The teams then start a three-game series Friday at 3 Legends Stadium.
