Stevi boys advance to title game

BILLINGS  — The Southwestern A champion Yellowjackets will play for the State title.

A desperation 3-point attempt by Laurel’s Taylor Maida hit the back iron, and Stevensville held on for a 52-49 win over the Locomotives in the semifinals of the Class A State tournament tonight at the Rimrock Auto Arena.

The Yellowjackets will play Billings Central or Butte Central in Saturday’s 8 p.m. title tilt. The Maroons and Rams play next.

Zach Gavlak scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds before fouling out to lead the Yellowjackets. Jesse Sims scored 14.

Brett Thompson scored 12 to pace the Locomotives. Bryce Herman and Evan Jones scored 11.
