For the second Monday in a row, Anaconda golfer Caleb Stetzner is a champion.
The Anaconda freshman fired a 2-over-par 72 to finish in a three-way tie for first place at the Butte Central Invitational prep golf tournament Monday at the Highland View Golf Course. Tyler Ferguson and Zach Klonsinski of Belgrade also carded 72s for the tie, which wasn’t broken.
Travis Lake of Dillon and Austin Stowell of Belgrade tied for fourth at 74.
Butte Central golfers Cal Hollow and Derek Ralph tied for eighth place with Jackson Wagner of Anaconda and Josh Heath of Hamilton for eighth at 77. Butte High junior varsity players Marcus Yerkich and Will Kilmer finished just out of the top 10 at 78 and 79.
Belgrade’s team impressed, winning with a 298 total. Hamilton was a distant second at 320, followed by Anaconda at 324.
On the girls’ side, Christal Tokash won again, firing a 78 to lead Livingston to the team title at 378. McKenah Bloom of Anaconda took second at 87. Jamie Cahoon of Livingston followed at 89, while Anaconda’s Ali Huber and Leighton Hirsch of Belgrade shot 90. The Copperhead placed second as a team at 380.
In her first high school tournament, BC freshman Regan Weldon carded a 95 for top 10 honors at ninth place.
The BC golfers are back in action Friday at the Dillon Invitational.
