Stetzner, Copperheads sizzle at Old Works

ANACONDA — Caleb Stetzner started his sophomore season pretty much the same way he started his freshman year.

The Anaconda golfer carded a 3-over-par 75 Monday to win the season-opening Anaconda Invitational at the Old Works.

Stetzner beat Belgrade’s Tyler Ferguson by one shot. Fellow Copperhead Jackson Wagner placed third at 79 as the Copperheads topped the team standings with a 351. That was 12 better than second-place Belgrade.

Butte Central struggled out of the gate. Tryston Frey’s 105 was the low BC score.

Tucker Thatcher carded a 90 to lead the Butte High junior varsity team.

Polson’s Jaylin Kenny and Nicole Clairmon finished one-two at 91-94 to lead the Pirates to the team win at 387 on the girls’ side. Livingston placed a distant second at 423.

Butte Central’s girls didn’t have enough practices in and did not compete.
