Stenson, Leary, Klobucar pace Bulldog victory

MISSOULA — Three players scored in double figures Friday night, and Butte High’s boys basketball team got back in the win column.

Senior Kenley Leary sank three 3-pointers and scored a season-high 19 points to lead the way as the Bulldogs knocked off Missoula Sentinel 73-63. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the Western AA.

Junior Jace Stenson poured in 18 points, eight of which came from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Senior Kooper Klobucar added 14 points.

Sentinel led 29-28 at halftime, and the Bulldogs took the lead for good with a 20-14 run in the third. Butte High held on by making 18 of 23 shots from the free throw line in the final quarter.

Junior Cameron Gurnsey scored nine points in the win. He shot 7 for 8 from the stripe, including 5 for 6 in the fourth. Freshman Tocher Lee joined Stenson with a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points.

Sophomore Bo Demarais tossed in three points for Butte. Junior Jonas Sherman scored two.

Trevor Rausch, Kaden Sheridan and Joe Weida each scored 12 points to lead the Spartans, who fell to 4-5 and 3-2.

The Bulldogs are back in action Tuesday when they play host to Helena Capital at the Butte Civic Center.
