St. Lawrence Grade School takes center stage as Maroons host Broncs

The Butte Central Foundation will honor St. Lawrence’s Catholic Grade School this Friday evening when the Maroons host Hamilton in a Southwestern A football game on the Bob Green Field at Montana Tech.

Maroon fans are encouraged to wear blue and gold to the game to celebrate the school colors of St. Lawrence’s Grade School.  St. Lawrence’s opened in 1895 and operated until 1967, when it merged with St. Mary Grade School.  All of Butte’s Catholic Parish Schools closed in 1969.

Alumni of St. Lawrence’s Grade School are invited to participate in pregame ceremonies, which include a team prayer at the stadium at 6:05 p.m. and the presentation of the “We Are BC” Flag to midfield prior to the team taking the field.  St. Lawrence’s alumni are asked to assemble on the field near Torger’s Tunnel at 6:30.

In addition, the BC Booster Club will be holding a barbecue at the stadium beginning at 5:45 p.m.  The cost is $6 per person and includes a meal and a soft-drink.  All BC Boosters, fans and St. Lawrence’s Alumni are invited to attend.

Official St.  Lawrence Grade School T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, and hoodies are available to order at the Maroon Activities Center by calling the BC Foundation Office at 723-6706.
