St. Ignatius , Dillon run to wins in Deer Lodge

DEER LODGE — The St. Ignatius boys and Dillon girls ran to team titles Saturday at the Powell County Invitational at the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site. (Results)

St. Ignatius’ boys saw four runners place in the top seven as they scored 34 points in the win. Dillon took second at 37, followed by Thompson Falls at 54 and Anaconda at 85.

Junior Ben Steadman of Dillon ran to victory, finishing the 5-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 50 seconds. Andrew Rush of St. Ignatius finished second in 18:35, and Thompson Falls runner Will Hyatt placed third in 19:13. Dillon’s Daniel Martin finished fourth in 19:22.

James Holmes led Butte Central’s group of four freshman boys. He placed 14th with a time of 23:03. Teammate James Bradshaw finished in 24:46.

Patrick Stimatz (33:11) and William McAnulty (32:11) also made their high school cross country debut for the Maroons.

Dillon’s girls took the top three spots to easily win the team crown with 16 points. Deer Lodge, the only other team with a score, finished with 39.

Senior Mikelle Mosher won the race in 22:54, finishing 3 seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Hailey Powell. Dillon freshman Faye Holland took third in 24:17.

Sophomore Hallie Kellicut finished in 33:55 for the Maroons.
