Sports camp roundup

The Southwest Montana Basketball Academy hosted by Quinn Peoples will return to the Maroon Activities Center this summer. Four weeks of group skills training begins the week of June 16. Individual one-on-one training will also be available.

Peoples is a four-year starter at MSU-Billings, an NCAA Division II basketball program. Before that, she helped lead the Butte Central Maroons to the 20011 Class A state championship. She was also an assistant coach of the BC state championship team in 2016, when Peoples was named the MHSA Assistant Coach of the Year. Click here for more information.

The Butte Tennis Association and the Butte-Silver Bow Parks and Recreation will host summer tennis camps at Father Sheehan Park. The camps are four youth, teen and adult players. Learn to play the game or brush up on your stroke. The camps will run June 11-14, July 9-12 and Aug. 6-9 Cost is $35, and that includes a T-shirt and a BTA membership. Adult lessons and workouts will also be held in conjunction with the summer tennis program. Click here for a registration form and more information.

The Butte Lacrosse Club and the Butte Family YMCA have scheduled a lacrosse camp for Aug. 6-7 at the Jeremy Bullock Complex next to the Margret Leary Elementary School. The camp is for boys and girls entering fourth through eighth grades in September. Cost is $20 for YMCA members and $30 for nonmembers. Cost includes a camp T-shirt.

Butte Blizzard head coach Hunter Carroll will conduct the camp along with his staff and players. Lacrosse sticks will be provided, but players can bring their own if they wish. Call the YMCA at 782-1266 for more information or to sign up.
