Football players aren’t the only area athletes strutting their stuff in dress rehearsals this weekend.
Friday and Saturday are jam-packed with practice games and meets as the fall sports slate gets ready to kick into high gear.
Butte High’s volleyball, soccer and cross country teams will be in action during a Purple and White night at the high school. The Butte Athletic Council will also host a barbecue.
Butte Central’s volleyball team plays its Maroon and White Game at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The football team goes an hour later.
Butte High’s big night begins at the Ross J. Richardson Gym when the Butte High volleyball teams scrimmage. The younger teams will go at 3:30 p.m., while the varsity-junior varsity team plays at 5:30.
The Bulldog cross country teams will run starting at 4:30 p.m. They’ll run a three mile course that starts on the uptown walking trail at Wyoming Street and finishes at Naranche Stadium.
Butte High’s soccer teams will square off in scrimmages on the field south of the high school. The girls’ game starts at 5. The boys follow at 6.
The football scrimmage is at 8.
