BELGRADE — Butte Central graduate Sofee Thatcher hit a home run Friday at the 9^th Annual Veterans Memorial Softball Classic.

Thatcher, who will soon be joining the softball team at Dawson Community College, is playing for the Army team in the all-star tournament, which runs through Saturday.

Her solo shot helped the Army beat the Coast Guard 7-5. Thatcher went 1 for 2 at the plate in the victory. Soon-to-be Butte High sophomore Ashlinn Mullaney pitched an inning in the Army win.

Earlier, Thatcher went 0 for 3 with an RBI in the Army’s 6-2 loss to the Navy.
