Slow start sinks Bulldog girls at West

BILLINGS — Billing West scored the first 13 points of the game Thursday night, and the Golden Bears beat Butte High 68-27 in an Eastern AA girls’ basketball playoff game at the Golden Dome.

West (11-10), which played in the Class AA State championship game last season, advances to play in next week’s Class AA State tournament at the Butte Civic Center.

Butte High closes the season at 2-19.

The Golden Bears led 21-2 after the first quarter and 41-15 at halftime.

Jessi Zuroff scored 18 points to lead West in the win. Brianna Shirley scored 12 points, MorningRose Tobey tossed in 11 and Haylea Elkin scored 10.

Ellie Hoffenbacker scored 10 points to lead Butte High. The Bulldogs also got five from Maria Michelotti, four apiece from Bethany McLean and Camille McEwen, two from Abby Dodge and one from Madi Yost and McKaul Ori.
