Skylights top Tech women in playoff opener

HAVRE — An injury-plagued season came to an end Thursday for the Montana Tech women’s basketball team.

Peyton Kehr scored 17 points to lead the way as MSU-Northern topped the Orediggers 68-57 in Frontier Conference playoff game at the Armory. (Stats)

Sydney Hovde added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Northern, which heads to the semifinals. Tiara Gilham scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds. L’Tia Lawrence and Cameron Mooney each added eight in the win.

Northern outscored the Orediggers 20-11 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. The Skylights led 21-12 after one, and Tech battled back to take a 31-29 advantage at halftime.

Northern led 48-46 after three quarters.

Brooke Heggie scored 16 points to lead the Orediggers, who close the season at 4-15. Mesa Williams played the final game of her remarkable career and scored 14 points. Mollie Peoples came off the bench and scored 10, while Madison Allen tossed in nine.

Tech also got five points form Dani Urick and three from Jaden Cummings.
