HAVRE, Mont. – MSU-Northern downed Montana Tech 66-57 celebrating senior night and the final game of the regular season with their first conference victory of the season.
The Orediggers (7-18, 3-12) lose their fifth straight game and remain the No. 5 seed going into the Frontier Conference Tournament.
Tech scored the first nine points of the game. Tavia Rooney had six points and Aubrie Rademacher had the other three in under two minutes as the Orediggers didn’t miss a shot.
The Skylights began to battle back outscoring Tech 16-8 over the next eight minutes to trail 17-16 at the end of the first quarter.
Tech hit 6 of 12 from the field in the first quarter, but that was their best frame in the game.
The Skylights moved ahead of the Orediggers 28-27 at halftime and held the lead for the remainder of the game. Northern shot 52.6% from the field in the second half and 41.7% in the game. The Skylights went 20 for 25 from the free throw line.
The Orediggers went 15 for 46 after the first quarter finishing with a 36.2% shooting percentage.
Dani Urick had 18 of her 21 points after the first quarter going 7 for 13 from the field and made all the Orediggers three pointers in the game hitting 4 for 8 from long. Urick had five rebounds and a block.
Rooney finished with 13 points, five rebounds, three steels, and a block.
Rademacher had 12 points and four rebounds.
Ryley Kehr led the Skylights with 26 points going 4 for 7 from beyond the arc. Kehr had four rebounds.
Briaunna McCullough had a double-double finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Shyan Krass had 11 points and five boards.
