Skylight run ends with loss in quarterfinals

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — MSU-Northern’s run ended two games short of the championship game.

Grace Alonso de Armino scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee) to a 63-50 win over the Skylights Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NAIA women’s national tournament. Stats

Taleeah Cross scored 16 points to lead Lions, who improved to 35-1 on the season. Hayley Newby posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.

A’Jha Edwards scored 14 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to lead the Skylights, who close the season at 29-6. Molly Kreycik scored 12 points, while Butte High graduate Natalee Faupel scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Skylights are coached by former Butte High head coach Chris Mouat.

The Frontier Conference is now eliminated from the NAIA tournament. The University of Great Falls bowed out earlier Saturday with an 88-52 loss to Oklahoma City. Stats
