Hafer, Montana win Ryder Cup

WHITEFISH — Shealyn Hafer of Butte helped Montana beat Alberta in the Alberta/Montana Ryder Cup.

The two-day event concluded Wednesday at the Whitefish Golf Course.

Hafer scored two and a half out of a possible three points in her match with Emily Creaser Wednesday to help Montana outscore Alberta 9.5-8.5 on the final day. Montana won the event 20-16.

Other Montana players are Kortney McNeil of Billings, Teigan Avery of Kalispel, Coral Schultz of Whitefish and Casey and Catrina Babinecz of Great Falls.

Haefer will be a senior for Butte High when the Bulldogs open the season Monday in Great Falls.

On the boys’ side, Alberta topped Montana 22-14. Caleb Stetzner of Anaconda completed on the Montana team.
