Sentinel girls down Bulldogs in Missoula

MISSOULA — Missoula Sentinel dialed up from deep and won the battle of the boards Friday night.

The result was a 59-37 win over Butte High in a Western AA girls’ basketball game.

Kassidy Kirgen scored 15 points, and Emily McElmurry added 13 for Sentinel, which led 23-15 before pulling away with an 18-8 third quarter.

“It was not our best night,” Butte High coach Bryan Arntson said. “We gave up 18 offensive rebounds and lost a lot of loose ball battles.”

Nine different Spartans scored, with Brooke Stayner, C.C. Size and Hannah Hurt each tossing in six points.
