Cassidy Venner plays outfield and pitches for Senior, which made an inspired run a championship appearance of the Class AA State tournament last May at Stodden Park in Butte. Great Falls High knocked off Senior 5-4 and 7-0 to win the title.
Venner went poked two hits and drove in a run in the two championship games of the double-elimination tournament. On the tournament, Venner smacked four hits, including a home run.
Her younger sister, Kennedy, was a freshman on the team. She pitched the Broncs to three victories in the state tournament.
Dickinson State plays in the North Star Conference of the NAIA. Coach Kristen Fleury’s Blue Hawks went 27-24 overall and 17-15 in conference last season. Dickinson was 11-5 in non-conference action before the NAIA called off the spring season.
The Montana High School Association suspended all spring sports on March 16. The situation will be reevaluated on April 13.
The Class AA State tournament is schedule for May 21-23 in Missoula.
