HELENA — The Helena Senators took advantage 12 walks on their way to a 9-6 non-conference win over the Butte Miners Thursday night at Kindrick Legion Field. (Box)
The game, scheduled for seven innings, was back and forth until the Senators hung a three spot in the fifth and sixth innings. Butte led 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Trysten Mooney went 2 for 3 with three RBIs to lead the Senators at the plate. Zachary Spiroff went 2 for 3, and Ethan Keintz doubled in the win. Cy Miller, who drew three walks, and Tyler Tenney each added a single.
Ryan Barett, Hunter Kirkpatrick and Peyton Witham combined to strike out seven Miners.
Ryan Wahl went 4 for 4 with two RBIs to lead the Miners from the No. 3 spot. Aidan Lee went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Kenley Leary and Evan Star added singles.
Kian O’Neill knocked in a run, while Rylan Richards walked and scored a run. Wolfgang Doty-Basel and Egan Lester also reached and scored for Butte.
The Miners will be on the road for games Saturday in Sunday. They’ll be in Billings to take on the Royals before heading to Missoula to battle the Mavericks.
