Second quarter lifts Maroons past Rangers

LIVINGSTON — Butte Central outscored Livingston 20-8 in the second quarter Thursday night, and the Maroons went on to a 61-52 win over the Rangers in a non-conference boys’ basketball game.

Dougie Peoples poured in 25 points to lead the Maroons, who improved to 6-5 on the season. He was one of three BC players to score in double figures.

Fellow sophomore Kyle Holter scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half, and senior Bryan “Hugo” Holland added 11 points. Bryson Sestrich added five points in the win. Egan Lester scored three, and Drew Badovinac tossed in one.

Konnor Pochervina also contributed for the Maroons who won their second game of the week.

Payton Kokot scored 14 points to lead the Rangers, who fell to 0-9. River Smith added 13, and Ben Nelson tossed in 12.

The Maroons are back in action Saturday when they play host to Corvallis in a Southwestern A game at the Maroon Activities Center.
