Billings golfer Sean Benson claimed the individual title at the Miller Lite Labor Day Classic golf tournament at the Butte Country Club.

Benson, who plays for the Montana Tech golf team, beat Butte’s Josh Walsh in a playoff for the title in the tournament that was shortened to two days of the three-day weekend because of heavy rain on Saturday.

Benson and Walsh both followed a first-round 74 with a 3-under-par 67 for a 1-over 141.

Helena’s Brady Kirkeby and Libby’s Jim Mee tied for third at 142.

Team No. 4 and Team No. 7 tied for the team title at 126. Team No. 4 is made up of Gabe Gaudreau, Phil Owens, Tom Roberts, Kyle Thomas, Len Piercy, Bob Slaven, Leighton Lindsay and Mike Jaeger.

Matt Pokorny, Ben Kaul, Brian McNabb, Joe Little, Charlie Field, Bob Dumezich, Dylan Anderson and Link Derek made up team No. 7.
