School skating races set for Saturday

The Montana Amateur Speedskating Association will hold School Races on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. the U.S. High Altitude Sports Center.

The School Races are a competition among area elementary schools in which children are grouped by grade level. Children will skate several distances (50-800 meters), with lower grade levels skating shorter distances and upper grade levels skating longer distances.

First, second, and third place trophies will be awarded to the top three schools.

Any child who knows how to ice skate is welcome to enter. Skaters wanting to practice for the races can meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sports Center. There is no fee to participate in lessons.

Skaters are welcome to use the ice at the Sports Center any daylight hours.

Registration forms are available in school offices, the Sports, or by emailing Registration will also be available at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the race, though pre-registration is greatly appreciated. For more information, call Tina Donovan at 494-4018.
