Boys’ prep basketball
Great Falls High at Butte High, 2 p.m.
Butte High (1-4, 0-1) aims to stop a three-game losing streak when they welcome the Bison (5-1, 1-0) at the Ross J. Richardson Gymnasium.
Great Falls is coming off Thursday’s 43-41 come-from-behind win over Great Falls Russell at the CMR Fieldhouse. Blake Thelen and Kyle Torgerson each scored 12 points to lead the Bison in that victor. Thelen, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, averages 14 points per game to lead Great Falls.
Butte High hasn’t played since last Saturday’s 59-40 loss at CMR. Seniors Clay Ferguson and Danny McCloskey each average 11.4 points per game to pace the Bulldogs, who will be without head coach Luke Powers. Powers will serve a mandated one-game suspension after last week’s ejection for two technical fouls at CMR.
Butte Central at Corvallis, 4 p.m.
The Maroons (9-0, 4-0) look to make it 10 for 10 as they hit the road for the Southwestern A Game against the Blue Devils (1-3), who take a 3-5 record into Friday’s game at Florence.
The game will mark the completion of the first half of the conference schedule for the Maroons, who rolled to a 62-27 non-conference win over Anaconda Tuesday at the Maroon Activities Center. Senior Cade Holter scored 18 points — all in the first half — to pace BC in the rout.
Caleb Warnken’s 11.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game leads Corvallis. Garrett Brown adds 10.8 points and 9.0 boards to the lineup.
Girls’ prep basketball
Butte High at Great Falls High, 2:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs (3-2, 1-0) seek their third straight win as they hit the road to battle the Bison (1-5, -1).
Last time out, Ally Cleverly scored 14 points to lead Butte High to a 48-37 home win over Great Falls Russell. Fellow senior Aspen Lovshin scored 12 in that victory, while junior Haley Herron tossed in 11 and senior Brittney Tierney scored nine.
Great Falls High is coming off its first win of the season, Tuesday’s 51-44 victory over CMR.
Corvallis at Butte Central, 4 p.m.
The Maroons (3-6, 2-2) are back at the Maroon Activities Center to take on the Blue Devils (3-1), who take a 5-3 overall record into Friday’s home game against Florence.
Calla Haldorson averages 9.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game to lead the balanced Blue Devil attack. Hannah Martin averages 8.6 points, while Lainie Albright and Isabel Evans each score 8.0 points per game.
Senior Tricia Joyce averages 10.6 points per game to lead the Maroons, who look to bounce back from Tuesday’s 46-45 home loss to Anaconda. Junior Emma Keely adds 9.1 points per game. Freshman Sophie Thatcher, who averages 7.6 points, scored a career-high 21 points last time out.
Women’s college basketball
Montana Tech at MSU-Northern, 6 p.m.
The Orediggers (11-5, 1-4) head to Havre looking to build on Thursday’s home win over the University of Providence. The Skylights are 8-9 and 0-5 heading into the Frontier Conference battle.
Men’s college basketball
Montana Tech at MSU-Northern, 8 p.m.
Tech (13-4, 3-2) rides a two-game high to Havre for the Frontier Conference tilt. The Orediggers beat Providence Thursday night, giving the team consecutive Frontier wins in several seasons. Northern is 10-7 and 2-3.
Butte High at Great Falls I-15, noon
Butte High’s swimmers look to build on last weeks solid times in Bozeman when they head to Great Falls.
Next week, the Bulldogs will host a meet at the Butte Family YMCA. That will be the final tune up before the Feb. 8-9 state meet in Bozeman.
