Following is a rundown of Butte sports action for Saturday, Oct. 13.
Prep volleyball
Butte Central’s Blocktober Classic
The Maroons Activities Center will be volleyball central Saturday as the 10-team tournament fills two courts in the gym.
The Maroons will play along with Browning, Corvallis, Lewistown, Deer Lodge, Dillon, Stevensville, Livingston, Missoula Loyola and Belgrade. Pool play begins at 9 a.m. Saturday. Pool play features one game to 25. When bracket play begins, each match will consist of two games to 25. A third game, if necessary will go to 15.
The Maroons are looking to continue a strong week. BC won three straight matches since last Saturday, including wins over Anaconda and Corvallis this week.
College Volleyball
Montana Tech at Dickinson State, 2 p.m.
The Orediggers look to build on last week’s monster wins over Great Falls and Carroll College when they hit the road to take on the Blue Hawks. The Orediggers (13-8 overall, 3-6 in the Frontier Conference) are also trying to climb to the middle of the conference, and can take a big step with a win Saturday. Dickinson is 2-13 and 0-7.
Prep Cross Country
Butte Central at Southwestern A Divisionals in Corvallis, 10 a.m.
The Maroons head to Corvallis trying to earn a trip to next week’s Class A State meet in Helena. Running for Butte Central will be Conor McGee, Shannon Temple, Clay Stillwagon, Connor Larson, Jarett Larson and Patrick O’Herron.
