Finally, the Maroons will get to take the field for real. Maybe. The Maroons were washed out in the attempt to open the season against Polson two weeks ago. They’ll try again Saturday at the Copper Mountain Sports Complex on a day that expects wet weather. Click here for a season preview of the Maroons.

Butte High at Helena, 11 a.m. Butte High at Helena Capital, 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs (1-1) will try to build on Thursday’s dramatic win when they head to Helena for two non-conference games. Butte High beat Belgrade 7-4 on Ashton LaFond’s three-run walk-off home run in the eighth inning. Katey Walsh also homered in the win that saw Jessica Robertson strike out five.

Butte High vs. Billings Skyview/West at Billings West, 1 p.m.
Butte High is back in action after a week off when the Bulldogs take on the Falcons and Bears. Butte High’s girls had a strong performance last time out, beating the Missoula schools last Friday in Butte. Erika McLeod (400 meters and long jump) and Rashae Emerson (shot put) paced the Bulldog girls in that meat. Kyle Christie is coming off a strong showing in the pole vault.

Butte Central at Corvallis Invite, 9 a.m.
The Maroons will see their first action since the season-opening Butte High Time Trials. Freshman Whitney McGree shined for the Maroons in that, opening her career with a victory in the 100. Conor McGee (1,600 and 3,200 meters) and Shannon Tempel (800) also picked up wins for the Maroons.

Prep Tennis
Dillon at Butte Central, noon

The Maroons and Beavers will meet at Father Sheehan Park. Butte Central will use mostly junior varsity players for this meet, which comes two days after the Maroons played at Missoula Loyola.
