Saints take two from Orediggers again

HELENA — For the second straight day, Carroll College swept a Frontier Conference basketball doubleheader from Montana Tech at the HPER Complex.

Carroll won the women’s game 71-56 before the Saints rolled to a 74-48 victory in the men’s game.

Shamrock Campbell scored 13 points to lead six Carroll players in double figures scoring in the night cap. Dennis Flowers III, Gui Pedra, Brendan Temple and Ifeanyi Okeke each 11 points, and Jovan Sljivancanin tossed in 10.

Carroll, which improved to 9-5 overall and 6-4 in conference, led 34-20 at halftime.

Sindou Diallo scored 16 points, and Taylor England tossed in 13 to lead the Orediggers, who fell to 6-7 overall and 6-5 in the Frontier. Camdyn LaRance tossed in in eight points, and Cody Baumstarck grabbed 11 rebounds.

Carroll won the battle of the boards 46-26,

Daniel Wagner scored 25 points to lead No. 7-ranked Carroll’s women, who outscored Tech 40-25 to break open a game that was tied at 31 at halftime. Jamie Pickens scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Carroll also got nine points from Christine Denny and eight points, eight rebounds and 10 assists from Sienna Swannack.

Celestina Faletoi scored 16 points to lead the Orediggers. Soda Rice scored 11.

Montana Tech’s men and women will play host to Montana Western next Saturday and Sunday at the HPER Complex. First, the Oredigger men will head to Dillon Wednesday for a makeup game with the Bulldogs.
