Saints sweep Dawgs

HELENA — Carroll College swept Montana Western in a Frontier Conference basketball doubleheader Saturday night at the P.E. Center.

The No. 7 Carroll women knocked off the Bulldogs 81-75 before the Saints men completed the sweep with an 81-73 victory.

Western’s women fell despite a career-night by Dillon native Brynley Fitzgerald. The Western junior sank six 3-pointes and scored 37 points in the loss.

Christine Denny’s 25 points paced the Saints. Danielle Wagner scored 19, and Kamden Hilborn tossed in 16.

Paige Holmes added 12 points for Western, which got 11 from Sydney Sheridan and eight from Shainy Mack.

Jovan Sljivancanin scored 23 points to lead five Saints in double figures in the night cap. He also grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out four assists. Shamrock Campbell added 17, Brendan Temple netted 13, Dennis Flowers III scored 11, and Ifeanyi Okee scored 10.

Jalen Hodges scored 17 points and pulled down nine boards to lead the Bulldogs. Max Clark scored 13, and Jamal Stephenson scored 12.

The teams play again Sunday in Helena, starting with the women’s game at 2 p.m.
