Saints stake claim on Frontier race

HELENA — Dakota Stonehouse passed for three touchdowns and ran for one more Saturday as Carroll College claimed sole possession of first place in the Frontier Conference with a 48-30 win over Southern Oregon.

Stonehouse hit freshman Kyle Griffith for two TDs at Nelson Stadium. Griffith ended the day with four catches for 143 yards, including a 79-yarder.

Anthony Clark also caught a TD pass, while Dustin Rinker ran for 149-yards and a touchdown. Stonehouse completed 12 of 24 passes for a season-high 298 yards.

Austin Dodge passed for 411 yards and three touchdowns in the win. The Saints intercepted three times. Matt Upham picked off two passes. James Dowgin had the other.

Carroll improved to 8-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play. Southern Oregon fell to 6-3 and 6-2.  The Raiders’ record includes a loss that turned out to be a win when Rocky Mountain College had to forfeit because of an ineligible player. Rocky is appealing that forfeit.

In other Frontier games, Eastern Oregon beat Dickinson State 57-3, and Rocky Mountain beat Montana Western 47-10.

Montana Tech plays at MSU-Northern tonight.

BILLINGS — Bryce Baker passed for 402 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Battlin’ Bears.

Cole Cattelan caught 10 passes for 120 yards in the win. Andre McCullouch broke the century mark with 102 yards on four catches.

In all 10 different Rocky players caught a pass as Baker completed 37 of 47 passes without an interception.

Dylan Kramer ran for 120 yards to lead Western. Tyler Hulse passed for 116 yards and a touchdown — to Rashad Peniston. Huse was picked off three times.

Eastern Oregon 57, Dickinson State 3

LA GRANDE, Ore. — Christopher McGinnis-Parker went off for 219 yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carries as the Mountaineers rolled to the win.

Mahonri Bostrom added 105 yards on 10 carries in the win. Dominique Blackman passed for 146 yards and a touchdown.
