WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Carroll College’s title run ended in overtime Saturday.
The University of the Cumberlands used a 12-yard strike from Adam Craig to Iquan Deed in the first overtime for a 34-27 win in the semifinals at the James H Taylor II Stadium. Stats
Cumberlands advances to the Dec. 21 championship game against Grand View in Rome, Ga. Grand View beat Monringside 35-0 in Saturday’s other semifinal game.
The Frontier Conference champion Saints, who had a holding penalty erase a touchdown in overtime, finish the season at 12-2.
Junior running back Dustin Rinker ran for 237 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. He did his damage on 30 carries, averaging 7.9 yards per rush.
Dakota Stonehouse passed for 197 yards and a touchdown in his final game for the Saints. He hit Anthony Clark for the score. Clark caught seven passes for 97 yards.
The game also closed the career for senior linebacker Casey Norbeck, a Butte Central graduate who was a key player in middle of the Saints defense the past two seasons.
