KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Carroll College’s run at the NAIA national championship game fell one game short.
Georgetown (Kentucky) topped the Saints 68-48 Tuesday night in the NAIA men’s basketball national title game at Municipal Auditorium. (Stats)
Eljay Cowherd tossed in 15 points to lead four Georgetown players in double figures as the Tigers closed the championship season with a 33-4 record. Dominique Reid came off the bench to score 14 points, while Troy Steward tossed in 11.
Chris Coffey contributed with 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Tigers, who won the battle of the boards 45-29. Georgetown led 35-15 at halftime.
Match Burnham’s 17 points led Carroll, which closed the season at 29-8. Dane Warp scored 11, and Matt Wyman tossed in 10.
