GREAT FALLS — Butte High’s volleyball season ended Tuesday night with a three-set loss to Great Falls Russell at the CMR Fieldhouse.

The Rustlers won the Eastern AA playoff match 25-12, 26-24, 25-15 to advance to a playoff match at Billings West later this week. The winner of that match heads to the Class AA State tournament next week in Bozeman.

Gabriella Hagen and Tristin Achenbach each spiked 10 kills to lead the Rustlers, who improved to 8-15 on the season.

Abby Dodge’s five kills paced the Bulldog attack. Butte High also got 15 assists from Bethanney McMahon, six digs from Jenna Maroney and Devin Amtmann, two aces from Dodge and one block from Kiara Mortensen.

The match closed the book on the high school volleyball career for Dodge and fellow seniors Amanda Pickle and Sam Krzan.
