Rosenleaf runs to ninth at Bozeman Invitational

BOZEMAN — Butte High cross country coach Guy Wadas called it a great day for the Bulldogs.

Senior Joby Rosenleaf highlighted the day by running to ninth place in the girls’ varsity race at the Bozeman Invitational at the Bridger Creek Golf Course. Results

Rosenleaf finished the 5-kilmeter (3.1 miles) race in 20 minutes, 16 seconds to lead the Bulldog girls. Piper Meuwissen of Bozeman won in 18:33.

Cati Carmody and Rosie Real broke 24 minutes for the Bulldogs. Carmody finished in 23:22, while Real crossed in 23:40.

Also finishing for Butte High were Danika Murphy (24:41), Katelyn Rapp (24:46), Taylor Huff (26:19), Brianna Cunneen (26:35) and Sheridan Hafer (27:34).

Butte High placed seventh out of 12 teams. Bozeman won.

On the boys’ side, senior Sean Staples led the Bulldogs, clocking in with a time of 18:04. Kyle Konda (19:00) and Erik Casagranda (19:37) also cracked the 20-minute mark.

Sean Foley (20:53), Brok Martin (21:06), Kasey Krzan (21:29) and Garrett Miller (21:52) also ran for the Bulldogs, who placed 10th. Bozeman won the meet.

Jake Vetter placed 16th in the junior varsity race in 19:46. The race was his first of the season.

Wadas also pointed out that three Butte girls placed in the top 10 in the junior high meet. Aubree Corcoran took fourth, while Piper Joseph ran to fifth and Ida Real finished seventh.

“Everyone stepped up big today,” Wadas said. “I am very proud of this group. I’m looking forward to seeing how the season unfolds.”

Next up for the Bulldogs is a meet Friday in Great Falls.
