Rocky’s Yang wins Frontier volleyball honor

WHITEFISH — Yang Yang of Rocky Mountain College was named the Frontier Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Yang is a 6-foot senior middle blocker from Yongan, China. She led Rocky to a 2-2 record at the Biola Summer Slam Tournament in La Mirada, California. The Bears beat Westmont College and No. 18 College of Idaho. They lost to No. 13 Dordt College and No. 2 Concordia of California.

Yang averaged 4.18 kills with a .379 attack percentage. She also averaged 1.29 digs per set.

Montana Tech’s Kimmy Kavran was nominated for the award, as were Alexis Aalona of Westminster College, Emily Erickson of Montana Western, Erin Jensen of Montana State-Northern, Crystal Schmidt of Carroll College and Madison Wilhelm of the University of Great Falls.
