Rocky’s Yang takes volleyball award again

Yang Yang of Rocky Mountain College was named the Frontier Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday night.

Yang is a 6-foot senior middle blocker from Yongan, China. Rocky Mountain went 4-0 at the Embry-Riddle (Fla.) Labor Day Tournament. The Bears beat No. 11 Georgetown College (Kentucky.) 3-0, No. 21 Embry-Riddle 3-2, Texas Wesleyan 3-0 and Montreat (North Carolina.) 3-0.

Yang averaged 4.64 kills with a .352 attack percentage. She also averaged 1.50 digs and 1.52 assisted blocks per set. Against Embry-Riddle, Yang had 9.5 blocks.

Kimmy Kavran of Montana Tech, Alexis Aalona of Westminster College, Kimmy Kavran of Montana Tech, Alyssa McEwan of the University of Great Falls, Kathleen Mulligan of Carroll College and Sydney Stolearcius of MSU-Northern were also nominated for the award.
