BILLINGS — Two Battlin’ Bears received a chance at NFL careers with invites to rookie minicamps. Offensive lineman Troy Bacon was invited by the New Orleans Saints while the Philadelphia Eagles extended an invitation to tight end Darneail Jenkins.
Bacon was a 2018 honorable mention All-American and first team all-Frontier Conference selection as Rocky’s center this past season. The senior from Oak Hills, Calif., was a key component for the 2018 Frontier Conference champions’ offensive line.
“Troy is a very intelligent player with a great understanding of offensive line play,” said head football coach Chris Stutzriem. “He has been a great player, leader, and person here at Rocky.”
Jenkins was selected second team all-conference for the 2018 season. The senior from West Pittsburg, Calif., recorded 737 yards and 10 touchdowns for the NAIA’s No. 2 ranked total pass offense.
“Darneail is a great competitor who I wish nothing but the best for,” said Stutzriem. “He has been an electric player and an even better teammate. We are so proud of him.”
Both look to join the ranks of Rocky Mountain College alum Chris Horn who found a career in the NFL. Horn played three seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2003 to 2005.
