Rocky tops Orediggers in four sets

BILLINGS — Rocky Mountain College turned back Montana Tech in a four-set Frontier Conference volleyball match Saturday afternoon.

Rocky won the opener 25-23 before the Orediggers battled back to take the second set 25-18. The Bears put the victory away with wins of 25-17 and 25-22.(Stats)

Savannah Smith tallied 13 kills to pace the Bears in the win.

Despite the loss, the Orediggers out killed Rocky 57-48.

Bailie Cortner smacked 16 kills to lead three Orediggers in that category. Katie Wiley added 15 kills, while Nicole Peacock killed 10. Tech also got 51 assists from Makenzie Bauck and 24 digs from Sabrina Hopcroft.

Tech fell to 1-3 in conference and 9-7 overall. Rocky Improved to 2-2 and 6-12.

The Orediggers are back in action Thursday when they play host to MSU-Northern.
