Trudnowski, Thatcher post second-place performances
MISSOULA — Montana Tech’s Becca Richtman and Carlin Manning picked up individual victories Saturday to highlight a strong day by the Oredigger women at the University of Montana’s Al Manuel Invitational. (Results)
Richtman won the 5,000-meter race, while Manning took home a win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The meet included Montana, Montana State, Eastern Washington, Carroll College, Rocky Mountain College and the University of Providence.
Richtman posted a time of 17 minutes, 9 seconds to win the 5,000. Teammate Hailey Nielson, a Butte High graduate, placed third in 18:29.
Manning’s time of 12:41 won the steeple chase. Teammate Alisa Hashley laced third at 14:02.
Also for the Tech women, Natylia Jacobson placed fourth in the 100, Olleca Severson took fourth in the 400 hurldles, and Abby Clark finished fifth in the high jump.
Competing for MSU, Butte High graduate Anna Trudnowski took second in the high jump. She cleared 5-5 to tie teammate Joe Johnson and took second on jumps.
Montana’s Cutter Thatcher, a Butte Central graduate, placed second in the men’s 400 hurdles with a time of 54.54.
Drake Schlachter and Eli Byrd led the Oredigger men. Schlachter took fourth in the long jump, and Byrd jumped to fourth in the triple jump.
Tech is back in action next Saturday at the Yellow Jackets/Battlin’ Bears Open in Billings.
