Richards, Miners gain revenge on Sugar Salem

POCATELLO, Idaho — The Butte Miners enacted a little revenge on the Sugar Salem Friday night.

Rylan Richards spun a gem as the Miners avenged their lone loss of the Pocatello tournament with a 7-2 victory. (Boxscore)

The Miners, who are 3-1 on the tournament, will play in a Gold Bracket game against the Pocatello Razorbacks at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The winner of that game will play in the championship game at 4:30 p.m.

Sugar Salem came from behind for a walk-off win over the Miners on Friday.

Richards struck out eight batters over six innings in the late-night win. He scattered three hits and gave up one earned run to get the victory.

Eric Hart went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Kian O’Neill and Coyt Stajcar also had a two-hit game, while Ethan Cunningham singled and knocked in two runs.

Evan Starr doubled, and Richards, Egan Lester and Max Demarais each hit a single. Eyston Lakkala pitched a perfect seventh to close out the win.
