Results are positive for Butte High swimmers

Butte High swimming coach Lynn Shrader liked what she saw when she finally got a look at the results from the Helena Dual. (Results)

Because of a computer problem, results from Friday’s meet at the Butte Family YMCA were not available until Saturday. Butte High swam against Helena High and Helena Capital.

“I was very proud of the swimmers,” Shrader said. “Great swims for the first meet. I was proud of everyone.”

Catherine Russo and Anna Trudnowski each picked up a pair of wins for the Bulldogs. Devin Amtmann, Katie Clague and Max Holdsworth each swan to one victory.

Butte High also got wins in three girls’ relays, the 200-yard medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle. Butte High’s boys won the 400 freestyle relay.

Those weren’t the only races Shrader was happy with.

“Sophomore Kaie Hossack dropped over a second from last year’s end of the season 50 free to swim a 27.98,” the coach said. “That is a State time. Transfer swimmers from Utah, brothers Max Holdsworth, a junior and brother Thad a freshman, swam great times. Max took first in the 100 free with a 55.39. Thad took sixth in the 50 free with a 26.78.  Sophomore Colby Regan dropped 2 seconds from last year’s best time in the 50 free for a 29.4.”

The Bulldogs will host the Butte Invitational next Saturday at the YMCA.
