Registration is open for volleyball, pickleball

Butte-Silver Bow Parks & Recreation Department is now accepting rosters for a women’s volleyball league and a co-ed competitive volleyball league.

The county is also offering open play for pickleball. All play will be held at the Butte Civic Center Annex, and admission will be limited to only the players because of the pandemic.

The women’s volleyball league will begin play Oct. 18, and all games will be played on Monday nights. This is an eight-week league with a single game elimination tournament following the season.

Registration costs are $75 per team, and that fee and a signed roster are due by Oct. 11. There will be a 10-team limit to the league.

The co-ed competitive volleyball league will begin on Oct. 20, and all games will be played on Wednesday nights. Play is open to adults and teams 16 and older.

The league will last eight weeks with a single-eliminated tournament to follow the season. Each team will play six players at a time, three male and three female. A fee of $75 and a signed roster are due by Oct. 13. There will be a 10-team limit to the league.

The indoor open play for pickleball will begin Sept. 27 and will run through Jan. 11. The Annex will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:30-9 p.m.

The Parks & Recreation Department will provide paddles and balls for each session if needed. The winter/spring open play season will run Jan. 24 through May 13.

Also, the Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a scorekeeper/referee for the volleyball leagues. The paid position is needed 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Anyone interested should contact Heard.
