The Bitterroot Red Sox put a damper on a home Father’s Day doubleheader for the Butte Miners Sunday afternoon.

The Red Sox swept the nonconference twin bill. Bitterroot won the opener 12-8 before winning the second game 14-6.

The Miners will head to Helena for the annual Keith Sell Tournament.

Tyler Nixon’s bat paced the Red Sox in the opener.

The Bitterroot short stop with 4 for 5 with a home run, a double and fiver runs batted in.

Justin Horvath also homered to lead the Red Sox, who did most of their damage with a five-run fifth inning.

Marcus Madrazo had a big game to lead the Miners in the loss. Butte’s leadoff hitter went 3 for 5 with three doubles and an RBI.

Ryan Moodry added a double for the home team, while Trey Hoagland, Jared Haran, Zach Hart, Dylan McDonald and Tyler Ossello hit singles.

The Red Sox jumped out to a 10-0 lead and held off the rallying Miners to complete the sweep.

Zach Ringer doubled and drove in four runs to lead Bitterroot, which also got two doubles from Austin Ray and one apiece from Nate Loranger and Horvath.

Kilian O’Leary and Nate LeProwse doubled for Butte. Madrazo and Moodry singled. Moodry, O’Leary, Renzy Doherty and Braxton Henningsen each drove in a run.
