DILLON — The Carroll College women’s basketball team is playing its best at the best possible time.
The No. 7 Saints won their 10th straight game Monday night, beating No. 4 Montana Western 54-50 in the Frontier Conference championship game at the Straugh Gymnasium. (Stats)
Carroll (25-7) outscored the Bulldogs 30-21 in the second half to overcome a 29-25 deficit.
Hannah Dean scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Saints, who saw three players score in double figures. Brittney Johnson scored 16 points, and Danielle Wagner tossed in 11 points to go along with seven boards.
Brianna King scored 22 points and grabbed eight board to lead Western (25-4), the regular-season champion. Britt Cooper scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Tori Anderson and Savanna Bignell each scored seven points. Cierra Lamey tossed in six.
Both teams will advance to the NAIA National Tournament in Billings. The Saints receive the Frontier’s automatic bid.
